Overview

Northwood Technical College is seeking applications from qualified candidates for a full-time Associate Dean of Workforce and Community Development (WCD) at the New Richmond Campus. 

 

The Associate Dean of Workforce and Community Development (WCD) collaborates with team members, the community, and all areas of the college to facilitate student success by providing credit and non-credit training. The position works with the WCD team conducting industry and community outreach to establish a customer base and provide continuing education for businesses, agencies, K-12 school districts, community partners, and individuals to meet their goals.

 

This position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills and ingenuity to initiate and pursue training opportunities that are advantageous to the division and the college. This Associate Dean develops strong internal and external relationships, providing and managing credit/non-credit training programs, courses, and processes. The Associate Dean develops and oversees curriculum that provides workforce skills and promotes lifelong learning and economic development. The position supervises operations that lead to the success of the division. This Associate Dean reports to the Dean, Workforce and Community Development.

  • Provide continuing education professional development and personal enrichment classes and seminars.
  • Supervise short-term credit and non-credit programming.
  • Develop and supervise customized training contracts.
  • Meet with prospective new and/or expanding companies and agencies to present information on college programs and potential funding opportunities.
  • Conduct needs assessments and convert them into training opportunities.
  • Maintain relationships with economic development agencies, chambers, and similar organizations to assist with economic development efforts through participation in relevant community/district events and activities.
  • Develop clear and effective training plans which are cost effective and meet workforce demands.
  • Assist in resolving student issues.
  • Facilitate student evaluation of instruction.
  • Monitor faculty participation in professional development as required.
  • Evaluate, supervise, and coach full-time and part-time instructors and staff.
  • Facilitate program review and technical skills attainment as assigned for credit programming.
  • Manage grants and special projects as needed.
  • Develop and oversee curriculum.
  • Implement strategic plans.
  • Assist with procurement and major equipment planning, if applicable.
  • Participate in budget planning and implementation.
  • Develop internal relationships and work effectively with all divisions within the college.
  • Collaborate with students, faculty, administration, and staff to design, schedule, promote, implement, assess, monitor, and continually improve programming within the WCD division.
  • Research, develop, coordinate, manage and promote new and existing continuing education course offerings and seminars.
  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and mentor credit/non-credit faculty and staff to provide effective instruction, appropriate teaching methodology, and assessment in assigned courses.
  • Review and ensure appropriate credentialing and licensure of continuing education instructional staff.
  • Mediate student/faculty and student issues in conjunction with student services and continuing education.
  • Develop effective, efficient processes for scheduling and communication. · Maintain a positive work environment.
  • Achieve programming goals established by Workforce and Community Development (WCD) division.
  • Actively participate in appropriate campus, regional, college-wide and state committees.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Degree & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Five years related work experience
  • One year Supervisory/Leadership experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally
  • Ability to contribute to a team environment while maintaining accountability and motivation in self and others
  • Strong customer service skills that focus on diversity, community, and continuous quality improvement
  • Problem-solving skills that employ critical thinking
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite and the ability to effectively apply technology to tasks and projects
  • Experience leading projects through time management and effective delegation
  • Proven revenue generation and business and industry sales experience
  • Ability to obtain driver’s license and insurance coverage in accordance with College policy

Preferred:

  • Experience developing training programs for business and industry

Salary

FY26 Salary - $79,580 / year
