Overview

Northwood Technical College is seeking applications from qualified candidates for a part-time Custodian at the Superior Campus.

 

Under the supervision of the Facility Maintenance Manager, the Custodian performs a variety of tasks required to maintain the cleanliness, good order, and secure conditions of the campus.

  • Ensure campus facilities are maintained in a clean and safe condition.
  • Rearrange classrooms, offices, labs, conference centers, and meeting rooms as needed.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and customers.
  • Perform custodial and environmental services duties.
  • Operate floor cleaning equipment such as buffers, scrubbers, and extractors.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, classrooms, and common areas.
  • Clean and maintain various types of flooring, including, carpet, tile, epoxy, and concrete.
  • Dispose of waste/recyclables
  • Comply with college guidelines, policies, procedures, and training requirements in performance of job duties (i.e., forklift training, Bloodborne Pathogens, Hazardous Materials)
  • Utilize appropriate technology for communication purposes (email, voicemail, etc.).
  • Perform building checks when necessary.  Building checks are done on a rotation with other department staff.
  • Perform grounds keeping duties.  Duties may include:
    • Lawn mowing
    • Snow removal
    • Removal of debris and litter from campus grounds
    • Assist in landscaping, i.e., trees, shrubs, flowers, and hedges
  • Perform shipping/receiving duties as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Degree & Experience Required:

  • Associate’s degree (or two years post-secondary education) in related field

Degree & Experience Equivalency:

  • High School Diploma
  • Two years related work experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite and the ability to effectively apply technology to tasks and projects
  • Ability to contribute to a team environment while maintaining positivity and professionalism
  • Strong customer service skills that focus on creative problem solving
  • Time management skills that apply organization and prioritization demonstrating the ability to multitask and work independently
  • Ability to obtain driver’s license and insurance coverage in accordance with College policy

Salary

FY25 Salary - Grade G - $18.76 / hour
